About Us
Jane's message to JLS supporters on the occasion on their 30th anniversary.
Jane recognises that her love of music was awakened by her Grandfather, the late Jack Leonard. Having been in his choir from the age of eight there was no doubt that she was going to follow in his footsteps. After a modest start with 12 singers and the occasional invitation, 30 years on the JLS are now heard of all over the world, both on radio and through their many commercial recordings. E-mails from Australia to the Patron Secretary, Fiona Bell, requesting the latest CD's and JLS news, are regular occurences.
As I look back over the last 30 years I am filled with gratitude to every singer, musician and 'helper' who have made the JLS what it is today. I have been blessed with countless warm-hearted, multi-talented, loyal and committed singers, some of whom have been with me for virtually the whole stretch! It has been a journey of faith, fortitude and fun. We have seen births, deaths, marriages, divorces and everything in between, but God in his great mercy has bound us together so that every experience has been used to provide a deeper, richer quality to our music. To date we have recorded 16 albums and shortly plan to produce a compilation CD of 'the best of' from those 16 albums.
We continue to support Tear Fund and various charities as the opportunities present themselves. Our music is not an end in itself. It is only worthwhile when we are able to use it to 'make a difference' either financially or in people's hearts. We aim in our programmes to use a variety of music that embraces all tastes and needs of our public.
It will not have escaped your notice that we are getting older... and... younger! I feel that it is very important to encourage younger singers to join us. It keeps us young and adds a fresh dimension to our singing. The combination of life experience and youthful exuberance are a necessity for the ongoing effectiveness of the JLS.
Both Luke, Sam and Naomi's father, Alan and my Husband David have supported and encouraged me over the years to pursue my activities with the JLS and I am indebted to them both.
And you, my dear friends, where would we be without you to sing to and give us a reason to carry on. As long as you want us to be, we will be here!
